Priest House Hotel Wedding Photographer

Natalie & Nick’s Summer Wedding

I've actually attended Priest House Hotel once before as a guest so it was fantastic to come back as a wedding photographer this time around. The grounds are absolutely stunning and the view of the river is something entirely unique. I couldn't wait to come back and capture Natalie and Nick's big day there.

Below are some highlight photos from the day as well as a description of the wedding. I would highly recommend Priest House to any couple looking to get married in Nottingham. If you are planning your wedding and you're on the lookout for a Priest House Hotel Wedding Photographer then I would love to hear from you.

About Priest House

Priest House Hotel is a riverside wedding venue located in Castle Donnington, it’s fairly close to the racecourse but far enough away that you wouldn't notice the sound of motorbikes! The venue is set against the banks of the River Trent and its history can be traced back almost 1000 years. The hotel wedding venue is built around a mill tower featuring a unique water wheel (great for photos!) As well as weddings The Priest House also hosts events and makes for a great romantic getaway hotel for couples.

Getting Ready for the wedding

Natalie & Nick were married back in the summer of 2018 and the weather was certainly on our side and picture-perfect. Natalie got married at the family home which was only a stone’s throw away from the church, weirdly I had done bridal prep for photos for another wedding on the same street that year! The morning was really relaxed and we enjoyed the morning sunshine whilst Natalie and her bridesmaids got ready. It was especially nice that Natalie was able to see her grandparents before heading to the church, her grandad was to walk her down the aisle which I thought was just lovely. Once everyone was ready and Natalie looked incredible in her wedding dress it was time to make the 2-minute walk over to the church and for the ceremony to begin!

The Ceremony at St Wilfred's Church

I've taken wedding photos at St Wilfred's Church once before (from the wedding I mentioned previously) so I knew it well. Its a small but very picturesque church with great light coming in from the windows, perfect for photography. The ceremony couldn't have been better with hymns being sung by the guests, moments of tenderness and laughter throughout. We through Confetti just outside and I took some group photos just outside the church along the riverbank. It was then time to head of to the Priest House for the reception.

Wedding Photography at The Priest House

The Priest House Hotel is one of those wedding venues that any wedding photographer would be pleased to take their camera to. There's plenty of space for guests to mingle outside and enjoy the riverside scenery, sometimes people fish alongside the banks which adds to that lovely relaxed atmosphere. The wedding venue is situated so that the sun sets just behind the river. This makes for beautiful backlit sunset portraits in the evening which is something brides and grooms will really cherish in their wedding photos.

Wedding Reception at The Priest House

As the weather was so lovely the Bride and Groom had hired an ice cream van for their guests to enjoy during the wedding reception. This went down an absolute treat and I even had one myself! The fun and merriment carried on into the rest of the day whilst guests enjoyed magnificent food and touching speeches. When it comes to your wedding breakfast options, the Priest House actually has a choice of the Terrace Room, the Garden Suite or the Riverside Suite. or  In the evening there was a wedding band that sounded epic! I especially enjoyed the confetti canons during Mr Brightside!

Thank you so much to Nick and Natalie for having me on their special day.
